Khata Tee
Pronounced “HA-ta”, Khata means cottage in Ukrainian. Inscribed on the back, Моя хата не з краю, pronounced “moya khata ne z krayu”, loosely translates to, “my house is not on the edge”.
We inverted the Ukrainian proverb, “моя хата cкраю” / “my house is on the edge”, traditionally said in apathy to issues that are not of immediate concern. Kryla’s first collection encourages wearers to continue paying attention to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine – because our house is not on the edge. This ongoing war does not only affect Ukraine, but democracy and freedom everywhere. All proceeds from sales go towards our projects (read more on our projects page) and organizations that are currently on the ground in Ukraine.
The design draws inspiration from elements of Ukrainian folk art and the country’s role as the breadbasket of the world.
